My weather journey…

Mackenzie has several experiences in her lifetime that led her to a career in weather. She grew up just down the road from the famous Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil, in a family of weather-enthusiasts. While traveling as an instructional summer camp job after high school, she witnessed the destruction from the EF5 Tornado in Joplin, Missouri. That experience guided her to a career in Meteorology and wanting to be the voice of safety for others.

Mackenzie graduated from The Ohio State University where she was a member of the Meteorology Club and the Central Ohio Chapter of the National Weather Association. While in college, Mackenzie and her classmates helped rebuild homes in Moore, OK from the 2013 tornado outbreak.

Mackenzie garnered internships at both WPXI in Pittsburgh, 10TV in Columbus and The Weather Channel, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia during her years in college.

While Mackenzie served as Miss Ohio 2014, she had the opportunity to give the forecast on The Today Show with Al Roker and Good Morning America with Ginger Zee.

Mackenzie started her career in Fort Myers, Florida where she was the weekend morning meteorologist at ABC7. Mackenzie covered multiple hurricanes and tropical systems including Hurricane Irma and Dorian. During the week, Mackenzie highlighted local businesses and events as a feature reporter for the ABC7 morning show.

Mackenzie decided to dig out the snow boots and returned to her alma mater, in 2019 where she worked as a weekend morning meteorologist at 10TV WBNS. While in Columbus, Ohio, she reported on multiple snow and severe storm outbreaks. Mackenzie is an Ohio Valley Chapter Emmy Award Winner.

Currently, Mackenzie can be found chasing lake effect in Cleveland, Ohio at Fox 8 WJW. She presents the forecast weekday evenings during the 5, 7 and 10PM newscast.
